Al Ain Snatches Late Victory Over Sitra in Gulf Club Champions League
Al Ain secured a dramatic 1-0 victory against Bahraini side Sitra in their Gulf Club Champions League clash on Tuesday evening at Khalifa Sports City Stadium. After a tightly contested game with few clear chances, the breakthrough came in stoppage time when Jonas Navo struck with a stunning overhead kick in the 91st minute to send the home fans into jubilation and clinch all three points for the UAE club.
The win boosts Al Ain’s position in the Group A standings, moving them up to nine points — just one behind group leaders Zakho of Iraq. Sitra, meanwhile, remain at the bottom of the group with two points, having been unable to find a way past Al Ain’s defence throughout the match.
Al Ain will now look to maintain their form as the competition progresses, while Sitra aim to bounce back in their remaining fixtures.
